War no more

It’s a bit naïve
  to think
  war no more.
  Not in this world,
    at least.

It’s a bit idealistic
  to think
  war no more.
Not with the way we handle
    our self.

It’s a bit of a gamble
  to think
  war nor more.
Not for any money in the world
    would I bet on it.

It’s a bit far fetched
  to think
  war no more.
  Not if history has anything
    to say about it.

Yet it is the one thing
I would choose over any other
  if I could.

It is the one thing
I would impose upon the planet
if it were up to me who is free.

It is the one thing
  I would really really really
  really really really yearn for
if I thought it would do any good.

It is the one thing
  my aching soul tells me
  would make any god
    proud of his children.

War no more.

  (sigh....)

PEACE O PEACE

PEACE O PEACE

PEACE O PEACE, O WHERE ARE YOU
WE ARE ALL LOOKING
BUT CANT FIND YOU.

Bombings and fighting are there
ways of this age
The world is at its meanest
and cruelest stage

Bodies of soldiers riddled by
bullets
Fathers are searching over enemy
turrets

Petrified mothers clutch their
children at their bosom,
O Peace come to us and let us
blossom

The Americans are fighting in
your name
For Saddam and Osama its
Just a game.

Bodies are dismembered and homes
are in ashes
Like buildings innocence and hope
also crashes.

From Iraq to Afghanistan there is
terror reigning
Don't the innocent of this world
deserve
a new beginning

O GOD, O GOD PLEASE GIVE US A NEW LEASE,
O GOD, O GOD PLEASE SEND US SOME
PEACE!!!

PEACE, O PEACE, WHERE ARE YOU?

Truth of the Matter

Let's begin at a new beginning,
a beginning with a new ending,
to create something out of this chaos,
to scavenge through the world's loss.

Let's restore some dignity in our lives,
a sense of respect in everybody's eyes,
let's take responsibility of our actions,
and deal in the future with extra precaution.

Let's humble ourselves in front of our Lord,
Let's ask for forgiveness from the people we have trod,
Show justice and patience by our actions,
and hope and pray for a favorable reaction.

Let's do all this or one day,
in this world there will be no place for us to stay,
for the wrath of God we should always fear,
God avenges the innocents he holds dear.

The women and their babies old men who are feeble,
they are all under His canopy and we should all tremble,
the bombings and the killings and the havoc we spread,
we are all answerable in front of the one whom we dread.

O America listen to all their woes,
treat them as brothers and not as foes,
Can you give back to those from whom you have snatched
their life; which is a gift unmatched.

The Tigris Flows Red

O yon Tigris running red,
flow on fast, do not tarry,
on your banks innocents bled,
a shameful load, you now carry.

Do your waters feel the pain,
groans of dying multitudes,
those for no sound reason slain,
and their mourners' fortitude.

Has your breast their sorrows kept,
as their shrieks echoed around.
Have you like me rivers wept,
for those who fell to the ground.

Will the violence ever cease,
where Scheherazade did sing?
will her city yet know peace,
when with screams its walls now ring?

O cruel world to not see,
this shameful war's true horror,
carnage that goes on daily,
instilling in lives terror.

What agony is this fear,
afraid for lives big and small?
wishing to hold loved ones near,
not knowing when one will fall.

Craters are where once were homes,
full of love, laughter and security.
with one bomb turned to a tomb,
what once was a sanctuary.

Mangled corpses strewn in streets,
Injured cry in agony,
Gory sights; sans shroud or sheets,
Skies weep at their destiny.

Oh! my Lord I pray to Thee,
Please, now on them have Mercy.

Peace...For The Children

Fleece of the lambs, bloodied by dogs of war
Peace is the gift I would leave my children

Love is the message I shout from mountains
Above all, may our hearts grow generous
we all love our children, desire calm,
see the light of human understanding

"What happened to the golden rule?" I plead.
but no one seems to hear, or to heed it
lagging behind in our evolution
nagging fears about war, and pollution

This isn't the world that I want to leave
fist pounding on table, I scream to all
we mustn't forsake them, hear the great call
See the light,do it right, give peace a chance

Blood Tears

The rock face
flows red with blood tears,
secretions from the heart spewed in the hours of darkness,
when the moon is at its zenith

~~

It congeals
so strong is the pain fusing with the blood tears,
their lament mourning across heavens sky.

~~

The shiny surface
as it slopes down increases the flow,
a river of tears and pain in the making.

~~

Vessel overflowing
spreading its stain on the ochre earth,
turning the elements crimson.

~~

Aguished cry goes forth,
as the stain reaches earth's core,
so great a sadness pierces the bowels of forever.

~~

Personal Trust crushed,
As confidence evaporates
In death throes
Never ending.
