Enlightenment
My tired soul weeps drops of grateful tears.
With joy I grasp epiphanies that blend
into the colors of the aging years,
That once I sought, so fiercely, to transcend.
Your spirit is the door to heaven's way,
I pass the arch and put each word in place.
I find I wish no more than just to stay
Within the light of this unending grace.
Then from your lips such virtues pass with care,
My understanding wakes to golden peace.
Surpassing every burden or despair
To waves of love I know will never cease.
If we will seek the truth we shall receive,
Enlightenment of spirit, I believe.

Sunset With A Friend- A Sonnet
'Tis on the garden bench when work is done,
and only the old dog that I adore
is here with me to watch the setting sun,
Where I find peace and wish for nothing more.
I love to stroke his coat all coarse and black,
It soothes my soul and calms my hectic mind.
That gaze of loyal love can cure all lack,
No truer friendship could I hope to find.
The glow of dusk is shared and we are still,
A scratch behind the ear is his delight.
We stay here in the fading day until
the last hue dims, then falls to shades of night.
The sunset, and good company, to me
Is such a blessing of simplicity.
Sweet Simplicity
Each morning's rise is happiness to me,
The breath of one more pure and lovely day.
I find my joy in sweet simplicity,
And cherish every step along the way.
The colors that I see of nature, bright
bring more delight than wealth could ever lend.
The luscious warmth of sun and cool night,
in sweet refrain repeated o'er again.
My home is humble, yet in comfort kept,
This old dog that I love lays at my side,
I want for nothing more in life except
Within this peace forever to abide.
You ask what means true happiness to me,
It lies within this sweet simplicity.

Rockies
The Rocky Mountain peak's majestic rise,
are apt to fill the spirit deep with awe.
So grandly reach to heights in cloudless skies,
'Tis here within such peace the soul gives pause.
Before us are the god's own sweet delights,
Displayed, with grace, in nature's pure design.
The beauty of the landscapes, lush, unite
with shades of bluest firmament, sublime.
The rivers rushing onward, foamy white
through forests, evergreen in piny scent.
Round every bend is nature painted bright,
I meditate, my heart is most content.
The Rockies are a world of splendid bliss
To me no greater loveliness than this.
